The Yobe State Ministry of Youth, Sport,Social and Community Development in Collaboration with Save The Children International, UNICEF and Care International organizes a 5 days Capacity Building Workshop for the Yobe State Child Protection Law Implementation Committee..
The Commissioner Ministry of Youth, Sports, Social and Community Development Honourable Barma Shettima who is the Chairman of the Committee in his welcome address welcomed and appreciated the Organizers and the members of the committee saying that training will serve as an avenue towards enhancing and equipping the capacity of the participants so as to be conversant with the law and aid in its proper implementation.
He also thanked the security agencies, INGOs, NGOs and MDAs for their contribution in making sure that the vulnerable children and their caregivers are protected in Yobe State.
The Commisioner also added that the training is a milestone to the entire State as well as the Child protection area of responsibility in Yobe State.
UNICEF's Representative Aisha Kolo in her Goodwill message thanked and acknowledged the presence of the honourable commissioner, Organizers as well as the participants for honouring the invitation to participate in the workshop.
She also said that she was happy to see the collaboration to work together because without collaboration one agency or organization cannot do it on its own as they are all here to support the state government to straighten the capacity of the existing institutions and not to work in silos.
In her words also "for us at UNICEF it's a dream come true because we have been pushing for the domestication of the child right act for over 10 years".
Save the Children and Care international Representatives also gave their goodwill Messages and wish everyone a successful deliberation.
The workshop which took place at Rand K Guest Place Kano State gathered about 30 members of the committee.
Papers were presented by Barrister Wakil Mustapha and Associate Professor Umar Alkali whom are the facilitators of the training.
