YODMA Trains Agency's Drivers, Staffs on Safe Driving Techniques

In its efforts to ensure safe and defensive driving as well as improve the skills and capacity of its drivers and other staff, the Yobe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency (YODMA) with the support from Life Bank has within the week organized a one day training for drivers and staff of the agency on the techniques of driving.
The training geared towards equipping the agency's drivers and staff with the necessary knowledge and skills was meant to promote proper maintenance and reduce the likelihoods of accident and unfortunate incidents in the course of driving.
Earlier in his welcome remark, the executive secretary of the agency, Pharmacist Abdul-Aziz Garba Muhammad represented by the Director of Sales and Distribution in the agency, Pharmacist Musa Dauda said, the training was aimed at ensuring effective and safe transporting of YODMA drugs and medical consumables to various destinations within and outside the state.
The Statement which is signed and issued to the Sahel Treasure News by the information Officer of the Agency Comr.Sulaiman Gambo said,
The executive secretary assured the facilitators the agency will work towards ensuring that the participants adhered to techniques provided during the training.
"This very important training will further exposed our staff especially our drivers who are responsible for transporting our consignments to different destinations to important rules and regulations guiding the conduct of driving that is usually ignored by many people when driving," the ES said.
Pharmacist Abdul-Aziz Garba Muhammad thanked Life Bank for their support towards the success of the training and assured to work towards sustaining the partnership for better results.
He also appreciated the facilitators from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) for quality presentation and knowledge transfer.
He pledged to continue engaging the federal road safety corps in the area of capacity building among other activities.
The YODMA Boss informed the FRSC representatives at the workshop that YODMA windows will always remain open for more collaboration in the future.
One of the consultanting facilitators at the training, Mr Bako Gani thanked the agency for giving them the opportunity for the first time to train the staff of the agency in the art of safe and defensive driving.
He urged the agency to ensure that the welfare of the agency's staff are given the much needed attention as its promote efficiency in service delivery.
"No angry or hungry driver will give you a good ride when driving as denying the drivers their rights and privileges has often caused serious life threatening problems to organizations and chief executive officers."
He also cautioned participants at the training that driving a vehicle on a high way without care, attention and due consideration for other road users is considered careless and unsafe.
He advised them to always practice defensive driving as it is one of the ways of avoiding unpleasant road incident.
He also stated that drivers working for government and non-governmental organizations should always adopt diplomatic approach when communicating with their Bosses in their various places of work and that they should have a good working relationship with the management and staff of their places of work.
