Yobe Varsity: Gov. Buni Approves Bashir as New VC

The Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON (Chiroman Gujba), has approved the appointment of Professor Mohammed Bashir Tahir as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Yobe State University, Damaturu.
The approval was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, Barrister Ahmed Mustapha Goniri.
According to the statement, the appointment followed a recommendation by the Governing Council at its extraordinary meeting held on 15 January 2026.
Professor Mohammed Bashir Tahir is a Professor of General Surgery and a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons. Until his appointment, he served as the Medical Director of the Ultra-Modern Police Hospital, Damaturu.
The Governing Council also approved the appointment of Mallam Isa Audu Dallari as the substantive Registrar of Yobe State University, Damaturu.
The statement noted that the appointments were made in accordance with the Yobe State University Law, 2006 (as amended).
Mallam Isa Audu Dallari is currently a Director of Administration at Yobe State University, Damaturu.
