Governor of Yobe state Hon Mai Mala Buni CON has commended the leadership of the Nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria under the leadership of Umar Faruk Abubakar, the Registrar and chief executive officer.
The Governor made the commendation on today at the Government House Damaturu when he recieved the accreditation team from Nursing council on a courtesy call led by it's registrar.
The statement which is signed and issued to the Sahel Treasure News by press Secretary to the Deputy Governor by hussaini Mai Sule the said the Governor was Represented by his Deputy idi Barde Gubana.
Expressed his satisfaction on the effort made by the regitrer towards upgrading the School of Nursing to a full blown Nursing college as already accreditation processes has gone far as some professional science courses have commenced
He said government would continue to give much priority in the areas of health care delivery and automatic employment of graduands of the college of nursing ( Registered Nurse RN) and other health workers.
He further explained that the present administration, of Governor Buni has upgraded and constructed many primary health care centers as well as 150 bed medical students hostels at Yobe state university Damaturu.
He also added that the state Government has constructed new lecture theaters,hostels, classrooms, road networks and drainages at the college of nursing and midwifery Damaturu.
Earlier speaking,the registrar and chief executive officer of Nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria, Faruk Umar Abubakar, said the council is responsible for the regulation, promotion and research in relevant areas of Nursing and midwifery training, as well as maintaining discipline within the profession.
Umar Faruk appreciated the physical structure provided by the Buni led administration in the College of Nursing and midwifery, University Teaching Hospital as well as medical college at the state university Damaturu are fit to compete with other neighboring Nursing colleges across other states.
According to the registrar, The council has approved the intake of Nurses from 75 to 100, midwifery from 100 to 150 while community health would continue to received maximum support and encouragement.
He expressed gratitude to the state government for the warm reception accorded to them during their assignment in the state.
