GOV. BUNI RECEIVED UN ENVOY, ASSURES WOMEN OF SUPPORT

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, has assured that his administration would continue to provide women with political and economic opportunities to participate in governance of the state.



The statement which is signed and issued to the Sahel Treasure News 

by the Director General press and media affairs to the Governor Mamman Mohammed said, the 


Gov.Buni stated this today when the United Nations country Representatives to Nigeria and Ecowas, Beatrice Eyong, paid him a courtesy visit.


He further said the state has two women members of the House of Representatives, Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries.


"We will also have women councillors in the forthcoming local council election and supervisory councillors" he said.


Buni assured the organization of government's support and cooperation for smooth execution of its programmes to improve the lives of women in the state.


Earlier, Eyong said the UN Women has introduced some programmes in the State aimed at improving the socio-economic lives of the people.


She said the programme would also introduce biogas fuel for women in the state for healthy cooking and to check deforestation. 


"We are also introducing climate smart agriculture to push for improved agriculture among the womenfolk" she said.
