ANAN CELEBRATE 2023 INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTING DAY IN YOBE

The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) Yobe State Chapter has celebrated 2023 International Accounting Day to acknowledge the work of accountants in making businesses thrive, supporting the economy, and helping people navigate the complexities of finance.


Celebrating the Day, the Chairman of ANAN Yobe State Council Alhaji Modu Mohammed Gujba FCNA, said Accountants are the financial experts trained to keep and preparing of Financial Reports of schools, Banks, Government, and other institutions to determine their status. 


He said the contributions of accountants in reshaping the future of finance cannot be overemphasized saying accounting professionals are the custodians of transparency, essential for informed decision-making and trust in financial systems.


He further said the Association would not survive without the enormous accounting work of those dedicated number of Accountants, and urged the members to be good Ambassadors in their respective domains. 


The Chairman thanked Governor Mai Mala Buni of the State for providing a conducive environment for Accountants to do their work in his administration. 


In his remark, the Chairman of the Occasion who is the State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development Alhaji Mohammed Abatcha Geidam urged all members of the profession to be computer literate and to harness ICT skills.


He emphasized that the utilization of the accounting profession allows accountants to keep records in their respective offices and to adhere to the highest standards of professionalism, and ethics and to deliver on that trust. 


During the occasion, papers were presented by dignitaries such as; Alhaji Mohammed Abatcha Geidam, the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development; Alhaji Musa K Amshi FNCA who presented the Paper on the Functions of Physical Responsibility Board.


While third paper was presented by the Director General Bureau of Public Procurement Alhaji Ismaila Mai Adamu on the Functions of the Bureau of Public Procurement as well and the fourth paper was also presented by Associate Professor Ibrahim Umar Gaba CNA of the Accounting Department, Yobe State University Damaturu.


Speaking earlier, The Secretary to the Yobe State Government Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, said the 2023 celebration was meant to equip Accountant officers with the knowledge to effectively manage the data and records by helping in Decision making.


He thanked the organizers of the International Accounting Day for a nice Job, he urged them to continue with the good work they are doing in their respective organizations, saying ‘‘Accountants are the partners in progress’’.
