 BY Murjanatu Hamisu Yelwa

As part of activities marking the 16 Days of activism against gender-based violence , the  Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ)Zone  E has joined in the  campaign  with a call on NAWOJ state councils in the zone to  key into the clarion call  to intensify media awareness  on the dangers sexual abuse.

Nawoj call on the need to advocate for justice in favour of victims of sexual abuse particularly at the grassroots level.

A statement which is signed and issued to the Sahel Treasure News by the Zonal Vice-President  Dorcas Philemon, and the Zonal Secretary zone E, Hauwa Aliyu ,  indicates that the call is in commemoration of  the 16 Days Activism against gender-based violence which started on November 25th and will end on December 10th with the theme '''Orange the World: End Violence Against Women Now'':.

The statement,  noted that  it is imperative to educate the rural populace who seem to be one of the most affected, and  lack the knowledge and wherewithal to seek for justice  whenever the need arises, hence the need to focus more with the campaign aimed at bringing them to  giving the less priviledged protection,  access to safety and justice,

as well as a sense of belonging.

Zone E NAWOJ therefore  reiterates its commitment  to amplify  the campaign in the remaining days of Activism through its respective media, and therefore directs its member states to do same Via  programmes, social media ,  jingles, and spot announcements to advocate  a violence free society.

NAWOJ also emphasises the need for relevant stakeholders to reinforce the campaign  against Gender-Based violence.
