Yobe:Gov.Buni signs 2024 budget of Consolidation and economic Recovery into law

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has signed  into law of the 2024 Appropriation and Finance Bills tagged "BUDGET OF CONSOLIDATION AND ECONOMIC RECOVERY "


Governor Mai Mala Buni has presented the 2024 budget estimates to the Yobe State House of Assembly on 14th November 2023, for Deliberations and passage into law. 


Buni submitted a total sum of Two Hundred and Seventeen Billion Naira (217,000,000,000.00) to service the capital and recurrent expenditures for the 2024 fiscal year which the Honourable House in its wisdom reduced by Fifty Million Naira (50,000,000) to make it more realistic, bringing the budget to a total sum of Two Hundred and Sixteen Billion, Nine Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (216,950,000,000.00).


The recurrent expenditure now stands at Ninety-Four Billion, One Hundred and Fifty-Six Million Naira (94,156,000,000). While the sum of One Hundred and Twenty-Two seven hundred and Ninety-Four Million (122,794,000,000) is now approved for capital expenditure against the One Hundred and Twenty-Two Billion, Eight Hundred and Forty-Four Million (122,844,000) initially allocated to the sector. 


Buni expressed his appreciation 

to Hon.speaker, Hon.members and 

all staff of the Yobe State House of Assembly for their continuous support, cooperation and diligence to ensure the timely passage of the 2024 budget to enable us hit the new year with great determination and commitment to execute the policies and programmes with speed and success. 


Governor Buni assured the people of Yobe state that his administration would adhere to principles of fiscal discipline and ensure that the funds appropriated in the budget are used accountable and transparently.


The budget is intended to address development needs and meet the aspirations of the people of Yobe State.


Governor Buni also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Commissionerof Budget and planning for the speedy preparation of the budget document for presentation to the state assembly.


He called for continued support and a harmonious working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of the government in yobe State.


The bill was presented to the Governor by the Speaker of the yobe State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon.Chiroma Buba Mashio, along with other principal officers of the assembly and the appropriation committee.


This spirit of teamwork and fellowship, will no doubt drive our collective determination, strategic synergy, collaboration and collective zeal to serve the good people of Yobe state better, and with great success.


He  extend his profound appreciation to the good people of Yobe State for the understanding, continuous support and cooperation to the policies and programmes of this administration.


As we step into the new year, I wish to solicit more of your support and cooperation for the government to achieve its set targets to make life more meaningful for the citizenry.


He assured the good people of the state that his government would complete all ongoing projects and initiate new ones.

Let me seize this opportunity to once again reassure you that the government in the new year, shall focus on the completion of the ongoing projects and continue with the new ones. 


The provision of roads and other basic infrastructure for multi-faceted development would continue to be given priority attention. We would ensure the completion of Potiskum and Geidam Modern Markets, Potiskum Trailer Park, and the Damaturu Mega Shopping Mall as well as rehabilitation, upgrading and capitalization of all the Government-owned companies among others.


The completion of the sesame seeds processing and packaging factories in Damaturu, Potiskum, Machina and Nguru towns is very key to our administration towards providing employment opportunities, and local revenue drive. We will therefore ensure their completion and take-off soon.

The government would continue to provide a conducive working atmosphere for civil servants and public office holders to be more responsive to our current demands for speedy and effective implementation of our people-oriented policies and programmes.


He call on all public office holders and civil servants in the state to be proactive in their quest to improve the lives of the people and to uphold the values of transparency, accountability, due process and financial discipline in the implementation of the 2024 budget for the benefit of all Yobeans.
