SECTOR 2 JOINT TASK FORCE NORTH EAST OPERATION HADIN WASA HOLDS WASA 2023

The Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai celebrated the West African Social Activities (WASA) 2023 on Friday, 9 February  2024 at August 27 Stadium in Damaturu, Yobe State. 


The event created an opportunity for the troops at the war front to to showcase their cultural heritage as well as celebrate with their friends, families and other stakeholders. 


The Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso highlighted the importance of WASA in preserving the Nigerian Army's customs, ethics and traditions within the diverse 

cultures of the Nigerian soceity. 


He added that, "The event was aimed at appreciating the efforts of our gallant troops for the successes achieved throughout the outgone year 2023 within our area of responsibility." 


General Saraso commended the operational team members comprising the Brigade Commanders, Battalion Commanding Officers and their gallant troops, robust Staff Officers, members of the Yobe State Peace and Vigilante Group and the Yobe State Hunters Group for overcoming the various challenges encountered during the year and for successful observing all scheduled activities. He attributed the successes recorded to the dedication of the personnel. General Saraso said " We will continue to be committed and responsive in discharging our constitutional roles in line with the Command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja which is " To Transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, Equipped and Highly  Motivated Force Towards Archieving our Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint Environment". 


The Commander Sector 2 joint tasks force  North East  Operation Hadin Kai, Major-General   Saraso has  commended  the Executive Governor of yobe state Mai Mala Buni for his continued support for troops as they battle insurgents and other criminal elements in the state.


He further expressed his gratitude to President Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TA Lagbaja and the Theatre Commander, Major General W Shaibu for their supports and provisions of needed enablers in the conduct of the Counter Insurgency Operations. 


Also speaking during the occasion, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, who is ably represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Baba Malam Wali mni commended the synergy between the military and other security agencies in the state, adding that "the commitment and resilience of the men have resulted in the relative peace the state is enjoying.”


The Governor  further said "the WASA is a Social Activity that displays the rich cultural heritage of the nation, which showcases the various cultural specifics that shows the unity, diversity and strength of the nation that needed to be sustained at all times”.


Present at the occasion were the Executive Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Baba Malam Wali mni, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Dr. Shehu Hashim II El Kanemi, rep by Wazirin Damaturu, Special Adviser on Security Affairs to Yobe State Governor, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd), Heads of Security and Law Enforcement Agencies in Yobe State, Commanders of Formations and Units in Sector 2 Operation HADIN KAI among other invited dignitaries in Yobe State. 


Highlights of the event were cultural displays,  Tug-of-War competition  between Troops of the Nigerian Army and Men of the Nigeria Police Force, the presentations of commendation certificates to deserving soldiers of Sector 2, presentations souvenirs to the Special Guest of Honour and other invited dignitaries and group photographs.
