FG Launches The Distribution Of Palliatives To 2000 PWDs in North East Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria today has flag-off the distribution of food items and cash to 2,000 vulnerable populations and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the North Eastern region, aimed at tackling hunger and poverty by ensuring food security.
   
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, has officially launched the distribution of food palliatives in Damaturu, the state capital of Yobe.

The event which was take place at the Fantasy event Centre Damaturu and attended by some top government officials among others.  

He said the initiative aims to support at least 500 PWD households in Yobe and 2000 households in North East by providing essential food supplies, bags of rice, and cash support to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

‘‘About 2000 beneficiaries are being targeted in the Northeast because the region has the highest number of Persons With Disabilities as a result of the Boko-haram insurgency.

‘‘The number of internally displaced people, (IDPs) and vulnerable groups in the Northeast has skyrocketed as a result of the onslaught of the terrorist group’’ He said 

He said the distribution will continue across the remaining states in the region, saying a committee was established to ensure a seamless exercise, working with locals to identify beneficiaries. 

He added that the distribution event underscored Tinubu’s administration's dedication to promoting social inclusion and reducing food insecurity among Nigeria's most vulnerable populations, ensuring no one is left behind.
