YOBE STATE POLICE COMMAND URGES CAUTION AHEAD OF PLANNED PROTEST

Yobe State, Nigeria - The Yobe State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Garba Ahmed, has issued a statement urging caution amidst security concerns ahead of a planned nationwide protest.

While acknowledging citizens' right to peaceful assembly, the Command highlighted the current security challenges facing the state, particularly recent insurgency activities in Gujba LGA, including an IED explosion.

According to a press release by DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Nigeria Police Force, Yobe State Command said, an intelligence reports have indicated potential threats from insurgents who may seek to exploit the planned protests to carry out nefarious acts. 

The Commissioner commended individuals who have chosen to withdraw from the protests, citing concerns over hidden agendas and the involvement of foreign mercenaries.

In an effort to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, the yobe state Police Command has requested the following information from protest organizers:
Proposed protest routes and assembly points,
Expected duration of the protest,
Names and contact details of protest leaders and organizers to
Measures and  prevent infiltration by criminal elements

By providing this information, the Police can effectively deploy personnel and resources, to establish designated routes, and minimize the risk of violence or criminal activity during the protests.

The Police Command emphasized the importance of cooperation from protesters, adherence to the law, and global best practices for peaceful assembly.

They reiterated their commitment to working with all stakeholders to promote peaceful expression and maintain public order.

In his Remarks the yobe state Commissioner of Police ,Garba Ahmed expressed gratitude to the people of Yobe State for their cooperation in maintaining law and order, urging continued support for security agencies in efforts to restore peace and stability for economic growth in the state.
