Yobe:Ministry of Agriculture Received 4.5M World Bank Support to Improve Surveillance

The Yobe State Project Coordinator of Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) Hajiya Adama Hussaini madaki has on Tuesday, 30th July , 2024 handed over surveillance kits to the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural resources for veterinary services department to strengthen the delivery of livestock health services and improved coordination between animal, human and environmental health services as embodied in the one health concept.
Hajiya Adama madaki has while handing over the equipment in Damaturu stated that, the surveillance kits was to enable the state health team to monitor and respond to disease outbreaks more effectively and ensure the protection of health of livestock and human being in the state.
She expressed optimism that the effort and investment of the present administration of Governor, Mai Mala Buni in the agricultural sector and support to L-pres to has started yielding positive results.
She said out of the thirty pilot states of L- pres in the county, Yobe state is the only state top other three in coordinating and implemention of the Anthrax vaccination for Livestock.
the Commissioner Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ali mustapha Goniri expressed happiness with the L-Pres team and their contribution towards Livestock production and commercialization of its value chain in the state he said.
Ali Mustapha Goniri applauded the efforts of L-Pres and urged the veterinarians to make good used of the kits judiciously and to efficiently harnessed the objectives of project.
It could be recalled that, the programme has trained about 63 veterinarian, environmental and community health workers on disease investigation and monitoring using one health approach, risk communication in March 2024 to Compliment today's kits for effective and efficient of Livestock production in the state.
