Buni to Prioritize Community Engagement, Empowerment

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State said his administration, will continue to prioritize social support through empowerment schemes and trainings for youths, women and other segments of the population as part of effort to cushion current socio-economic difficulties in the state.

The State Commissioner Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, stated this while briefing newsmen.

Bego said these are part of the resolutions of a meeting chaired today by Governor Mai Mala Buni at the Government House, Damaturu with chairmen of local government councils, 14 emirs of the state and other senior government officials, including the deputy governor, secretary to the state government, head of service, chief of staff to the governor and some members of the state executive council.

According to him, Governor Mai Mala Buni has promised to prioritize community engagement in order to ensure that people across the state are fully informed about government policies and programmes and are carried on board in their implementation.

According to him, the meeting emphasized the need for local government and traditional councils to continue to attend to local and community issues in a way that strengthens trust, good neighborliness, and community cohesion.

He added that the meeting also stressed the need to provide more avenues for skills and craft training to support yohe need to provident to learn and set up small or medium businesses or go into agriculture and food production.

He said the meeting also commended the state government for empowerment support to women and youths across the state, especially the recent multi- billion-naira agriculture empowerment programme launched by the President, represented by the Vice President, recently and urged the state government to work to ensure that the items reach the intended beneficiaries across the 17 local government areas.

He further said the meeting also called on people to remain law abiding and to continue to pray to Almighty Allah (SWT) for the security, peace and prosperity of the state and the nation in general.
