Governor of yobeState, Mai Mala Buni, has launched the distribution of standard weighing scales, known as "Mudus," to business owners in the state.

The weighing scales were procured by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ethical Re-orientation to ensure fair trade practices among traders in the state.

The distribution ceremony took place at the Emir's Palace in Damaturu, where the scales were handed over to the chairpersons of traders' associations and Sharia committees from the 17 local government areas of the state.

Governor Buni, represented by Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana, emphasized that the reintroduction of weighing scales aims to prevent individuals from being cheated in their daily business transactions.

Commending the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ethical Re-orientation for the initiative, Governor Buni highlighted that the effort promotes honesty and adherence to Sharia standards in the market, particularly during challenging times.

In his remarks at the event the Commissioner of the Ministry, Alhaji Yusuf Umar, explained that the sensitization and distribution of the weighing scales were crucial in maintaining integrity within the trading system, especially in light of economic hardships and inflation faced by the populace.

The Yobe State Government, under Governor Buni's leadership, is committed to curbing dishonest practices that exploit consumers for profit.

"Local Government Area Sharia committees will oversee the implementation and proper use of the new weighing scales at the grassroots level", he explained.

During the event, the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Shehu Hashim El-kanemi, praised the state government for reintroducing the use of weighing scales to promote transparency in business transactions.

The occasion also featured a presentation highlighting the significance of accurate weighing scale usage.
