Yobe: Govt.Offers Scholarship to 38,000 Students

The Yobe State Government has offered scholarships and bursaries to over 38,000 state students to pursue their first degrees in various universities, colleges and polytechnic.
Governor Mai Mala Buni, made this known at the grand reception in honour of 2024 graduates of Buni foreign scholarship scheme held in Banquet Hall Government House Damaturu.
The Sahel News learnt the state government is celebrating the completion of studies of the 171 graduates sponsored by the State Government to study in India.
Buni said in the last five years, the scholarship policy of his administration has strategically invest funds for the studies of 38,000 Yobe's students to pursue their first degrees, Masters and Doctorate degress.
He said the state government has also granted over 400 international scholarship to students in Egypt, the United Kingdom, China, the United States, Jordan, Turkey, Malaysia, Russia and other countries.
He added that the Indian graduates who studies medical courses would provide the needed manpower with requisite skills in the state health facilities.
According to him, the state government in 2020 sponsored a total number of 233 Yobe State indigene to study medical courses, engineering and other allied science courses out of which 171 were graduated while 62 others are still pursuing their studies in line with the duration and requirement of their courses.
