Ministry Of Women Affairs,NDE Train 300 Unemployed Women On Skills acquisition in Yobe

The Yobe State Ministry of Women Affairs, in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), has flagged off the training of 300 unemployed women on skills acquisition.

The event took place at the Ministry's  Multipurpose Hall in Damaturu, the state capital.

Declaring the training open, the Commissioner Yobe State Ministry of Women Affairs, Hon. Ya Jalo Badama, emphasized on the importance of skills acquisition in fostering economic Growth and independence among women.

The Commissioner urged the participants to make judicious use of the opportunity given to them as they are selected based on merit.

Earlier in his welcome address, the State Coordinator National Directorate of Employment, represented by Mallam Habu Dauda Chiroma said the training categorized into different schemes will dwell on income activities, online and organic supplements among others.

He listed the schemes to include Start Your Own Business (SYOB) for 100 unemployed women, the Income Generating Activities (IGA) to 100 women, particularly in confectionery making, organic supplements, and beads 

Others he said include 50 unemployed women to be engaged in Basic Business Training (BBT), while 50 others would be trained on online related activities. 

In an overview, the Head of Department Small-Scale Enterprise department of NDE Yobe State, highlighted the success of similar programs across the country, reiterating the importance of the initiative in empowering women of the state.

While extending her appreciation to NDE on behalf of the ministry, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Women Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Ago Muhammad has urged the beneficiaries to pay attention and dedicate themselves to learning the basic skills in each of the schemes 

Also speaking, the State Focal Person of UN Women, Hajiya Fatima Paga advised the beneficiaries to utilize the rare opportunity, thanking the Yobe State government for supporting the ministry. 
  
Some of the participants who spoke at the event voiced their appreciation and expressed eagerness to learn new skills that would enable them to create their businesses and contribute positively to their communities.

Highlight of the event was the distribution of business forms to all beneficiaries.
