Gov.Buni Hosts 5th Governor's Forum

The Yobe State Government under the leadership of the Executive Governor of yobe state Hon.Mai Mala Buni CON,is set to host the 5th edition of the Lake Chad Basin Governors’ Forum (LCBGF) from January 29 to 31, 2025, at the Indimi International Conference Hall  Maiduguri.

The Title of the theme is“Rebuilding  Lake Chad Basin Region. 

To Consolidating Gains, Commitment to Peace, Cross-Border Cooperation, Security, and Sustainable Development for a Resilient Community,” aims to promote sustainable development, peace, and security in the region.

The Forum Programme is Organized by the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The forum will bring together about 500 participants, including representatives from International,national,local governments and regional economic communities, NGOs, CSOs, traditional leaders, and UN agencies.

The Executive Secretary of the LCBC, Amb.Mamman said,“The forum provides a critical space for humanitarian, development, and peace actors to come together and shape concrete plans for stabilizing the region and advancing recovery and long-term development.”

The Lake Chad Basin region has faced numerous challenges include, lack of job opportunities, Boko Haram crisis, displacement, and damage to social fabric and infrastructure.

The forum seeks to address these issues through enhanced regional cooperation, stabilization, and sustainable development.

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State will be the Host at the occasion.

He is committed to the success of this significant regional event, which represents a vital opportunity for us to advance cooperation for sustainable development across the Lake Chad Basin region.”

The 5th LCBGF will commence with a pre-forum on 27/30 January 27-30, 2025, to enhance inclusivity through discussions with local and national actors, civil society, and traditional leaders.
