Gov. Buni receives Switzerland Ambassador On a Courtesy Call

The Embassy of Switzerland has partnered with the Yobe state  government to tackle the prolonged problem of flood disaster in the state.

The Swiss delegation visited Yobe to explore areas of technical support and other opportunities for sustainable flood management following the 2024 devastating floods. 

The Delegation, led by the Deputy Ambassador Mr.Siamak Rouhani, Ms.Valeria Hutter, a Disaster Risk Reduction expert, and Mr.Nicolas Martin-Achard at the Government House Damaturu. 

The team engaged key stakeholders,such as officials, From 17 LGA's,Technical Partners, UN agencies, and INGOs, to identify actionable strategies for flood Prevention and disaster risk Reduction and Resilience building in the state. 

The Ambassador was recieved at the Government House, by the Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni, Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, commisioners of Health, Humanitarian,  Environment,  
Advisers and Chairmen of Flood prone areas among others.

The scooping mission by the Switzerland Delegation is aimed at  appreciating the Yobe State government for the continued partnership and enabling environment to support the DRR in the state.

Appreciate the Switz Deputy Ambassador and his Delegation for their commitment to fostering international partnerships and addressing Flood, disaster risk challenges and keying into state development plans, assuring them that the Yobe state will continue to provide enabling environment aimed at building resilient  communities and implementing innovative infrastructure to safeguard lives and livelihoods in the state Buni said.

The Ambassador said "We look forward to this collaboration and commend Yobe State's leadership for prioritizing disaster management and climate adaptation for a stronger, more sustainable future"
