Yobe Gov't Engages 178 Agric Extension workers to Boost Food Security

The Yobe State Ministry for Agriculture and Natural Resources has trained 178 extension workers to improve service delivery and field operations in the State. 

The two-day training for the extension workers is meant to enhance the production of high-premium agricultural produce in the state.

Declaring the training open, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ali Mustapha Goniri, urged the participants to pay close attention, especially that it was the final segment of the scheduled program. 

Goniri noted that the training was designed to maximize agro-economic output and equip extension agents with the necessary skills to support farmers at the grassroots level in yobe State. 

He highlighted the Important investment made by Governor Buni's administration, in the agricultural sector, amounting to billions of naira. 

He reiterated the government’s commitment to achieving positive results through modern farming techniques adding that extension agents play a vital role in Agricultural Development Programme (ADP) and must be well-versed in innovative farming methods, particularly in response to challenges posed by climate change. 

"Modern farming requires innovative techniques to help farmers navigate challenges and achieve better yields," he added.

He disclosed that Governor Mai Mala Buni recently Delegate some government officials to Morocco to strengthen partnerships for the supply of fertilizers and other agricultural inputs to enhance production to both national and international standards.

Goniri commended the facilitators, for their Commitment 
and Dedication.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Muhammad Inuwa Gulani, reiterated the vital role of extension agents in agricultural development. 

He noted that their responsibilities include disseminating information on improved inputs, seedlings, and pesticides to farmers across the state.

"The training is designed to refresh and enhance the capacity of the extension workers, to enable them to transfer to modern farming techniques to the farmers  in the state Gulani stated.

He lauded Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration, the Commissioner and other officials for their unwavering support to strengthening agricultural extension services in the state.
