The 11th Of April Every Year Is Celebrated As Safe Motherhood Day, an Initiation of the World Health Organisation Meant To Provide Opportunity For Women To Receive the care needed to be safe and healthy throughout pregnancy and childbirth, including antenatal, newborn, postnatal, intrapartum and mental healthcare.
As the global community mark this important day, the Yobe State Family Planning Media Advocacy Team praises the strides recorded by the Yobe State Government in Primary, Secondary And Tertiary Health Systems for providing an enabling system that improves health indicators across the board.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Isah Abba, on behalf of Chairman Mustapha Yusuf Musa, indicates partnerships with national and international non-governmental organisations, including the challenge initiative (tci), have helped in accelerating positive health indicators, including family planning, maternal, neonatal and newborn among others.
The statement added that Yobe State, working closely with TCI, is enhancing safe practices in childbirth spacing with indicators pointing to increased acceptability of family planning even among the rural women who consume at health facilities, health talks during antenatal, and medical outreach to rural areas by health campaigns.
The Yobe Family Planning media advocacy is calling for increased engagement with stakeholders cutting across traditional, religious and community leaders to further make inroads in the advocacy for the citizens to be aware and fully embrace safe childbirth spacing practice in the state.
