Gov.Buni Received Minister, Others as NEDC Commissions Projects In Yobe

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, received a high-level delegation from the federal government on Monday as part of the North-East Development Commission's (NEDC) mandate to inaugurate and hand over significant projects in the state.
The Delegation was led by the Minister of State for Regional Development, Hon.Uba Maigari Ahmadu, alongside members of the National Assembly, the MD/CEO of the NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, board members, and officials of the NEDC.
Welcoming the team in Damaturu, Governor Buni, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, mni, commended the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration for supporting the commission in bringing laudable projects to the State.
He Commended Governor Buni's administration For the establishment of the NEDC, which was primarily to address humanitarian and development challenges facing the region after the prolonged Boko Haram crisis.
The governor referenced the wanton destruction of lives and properties by the insurgents, which drew back particularly in the development of education and the economy of the region. He emphasized that significant recovery projects have been achieved through collaborative efforts with the NEDC.
Buni sought the extension and completion of some strategic road projects, including the one that would link Geidam-Maine Sorowa to Damasak, which, according to him, would help curb insurgency within the axis.
In his remarks, the Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, expressed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to confronting the recent resurgence of the Boko Haram insurgency, noting that the previous progress recorded would never go in vain.
The minister revealed that the ministry for Regional Development, along with five other development commissions, was created by the Tinubu administration, underscoring his commitment to addressing regional disparities and accelerating balanced and sustainable development anchored in the renewed hope agenda of the President.
Speaking earlier, the MD/CEO of the NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, noted that the commission's visit to Yobe to hand over some projects signified the relationship between the state and the federal government, which is working closely to drive development projects that impact the lives of the people.
He listed some of the completed projects to be inaugurated, including 18 higher vocational centers across the state, an ICT center and 250 seater auditorium, at the Yobe State University, a newly constructed NEDC office, and three model schools across the three senatorial districts, among others.
Some of the dignitaries in the minister's entourage were the Chairman of the House Committee on NEDC, represented by Hon. Usman Zanna; members of the standing committee of the NEDC at the National Assembly, comprising Hon.Lawan Shettima Ali and Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis; the Executive Director of Admin and Finance of the NEDC, Dr. Abubakar Garba Iliya; and other management staff of the NEDC.
