Gov. Buni Unveils 8th Yobe Assembly Legislative Agenda

Governor of Yobe state,Mai Mala Buni has today attended the second year anniversary of the 8th Yobe state House of Assembly at the hallow chambers of the Assembly.

The Governor described the event as another milestone and a testament to the dedication of the House of Assembly towards its legislative duties which forms an integral part of  every democratic Government.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Idi Barde Gubana.

He further noted that the  documents could promote mutual understanding and cooperation between arms of Government for them to foster the implementation of people - oriented policies and programmes.

"Its therefore, my hope that the document will entrench the functions of the legislature in its oversight responsibilities towards good service delivery and improving the general welfare of the state citizenry."' he added.

Buni assured  Members that, the  executive arms is ready to give them all the necessary support to carry out their statutory function.

He equally Commended  Members  for their contributions towards the successes recorded by the present administration.

Earlier in his remarks the Speaker Yobe state House of Assembly,RT Hon Chiroma A. Buba Mashio  enumerated some of the achievements recorded in the 8th Assembly. He explained that so far  18 bills were introduced and 15 were passed while the remaining are at the committee levels.

Hon  Mashio,  explained that as part of thier constitutional duty, the house had during the year under review conducted oversight visits to to ensure that government projects are closely monitored and executed effectively and efficiently.

According to the speaker, the House has just conducted zonal  public hearings in three senatorial districts, Zone A ,B and C on a bill  for a law to amend the Yobe state Anti- stigmazation law to provide compulsory haemoglobin genotype and viral hepatitis screening for intending couples in the state and related matters.

He expressed appreciation to the state Governor Mai Mala Buni for his unwavering support to the Assembly to harmonise Executive - legislative relations,  respect for the rule of law and consistent engagement with the Assembly to ensure synergy so as to provide dividends of democracy to the electorate.

Highlights of the events was unveiling  of the eighth (8) Assembly legislative Agenda, while unveiling the document, the Governor commended the 8th Assembly for outlined 10 points agenda namely
Economic diversification 
Enhenced internal security and safety 
poverty alleviation and employment.
Infrustructural Development 
Agricultural and Food security 
Improved access to quality education Improved access equality healthcare 
Accountability, transparency and inclusive governance 
strengthening the Assembly.
climate change and environmental sustainability.

The House gave awards to two dedicated  organisation in recognition of their hardwork and loyalty.
