Gov. Buni Bags “Governor of the Year Award in Health 2024”

Governor  Mai Mala Buni,  has been honoured with the prestigious Governor of the Year Award in Health 2024 by Blueprint Newspaper, in recognition of his administration’s remarkable achievements in transforming the healthcare landscape of Yobe State. 

The award was presented to the Governor in Abuja in a colorful ceremony which took place at Ladi Kwali Hall, Continental Hotel formerly Sheraton Hotel, Abuja.

Governor Buni was ably represented at the event by the Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Hon. Abdullahi Bego
He was accompanied by the Head of Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alh. Ibrahim Adamu Jajere, Honourable Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Ethical Reorientation, Hon. Yusuf Umar and Focal Person on Digital Digital Media, Yusuf Ali.

This well-deserved recognition underscores Governor Buni’s visionary leadership and commitment to strengthening the health sector across the State. 

His administration has invested heavily in revitalizing primary healthcare centres across the state, upgrading general hospitals, recruiting and training health personnel, and establishing the Yobe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (YSCHMA)—all aimed at achieving universal health coverage and improving the quality of life for citizens.

The event also saw the recognition of several other distinguished Nigerians for their service and contributions to national development.

the awardees were the Governors of Kebbi, Kano, Niger, Katsina, and Kogi States, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bar Nyesom Wike, the Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Barau Jibrin, National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the Minister of Information, and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Habu Kyari among others.

Governor Buni’s award is a testament to the steady and impactful progress Yobe State has made in healthcare delivery, and it serves as further motivation to continue on the path of people-centred governance and sustainable development.
