Gov. Buni has Recorded Remarkable Achievements In Land Admin

The Yobe State Government has recorded remarkable achievements in land administration through the Yobe Geographic Information Service (YOGIS), positioning the state as one of the leading sub-national governments in digital land management and administration in Nigeria.

Under the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni, significant reforms have been implemented to modernize land administration, improve service delivery, and enhance revenue generation across the state.

As part of the achievements recorded so far, YOGIS secured a $2.5 million World Bank grant to support the modernization of land administration systems.

The agency has also successfully digitized over 80,000 land files, ensuring safer record keeping, faster processing, and improved accessibility of land information.

In a bid to build local capacity, more than 100 staff members have been trained on digitalization and modern land administration practices, while a dedicated Cadastral Department was established to strengthen land surveying and mapping operations.

The agency further carried out the enumeration of approximately 147,000 houses across five local government areas, creating a comprehensive database for planning and development purposes.

Modern survey equipment was procured to improve accuracy and efficiency in land management operations.

Other milestones include the establishment of a Customer Care Unit to enhance public service delivery, the renovation and modernization of the YOGIS complex, and the approval of the 25-Year Damaturu Master Plan, which provides a strategic framework for the sustainable growth and development of the state capital.

The administration also facilitated the allocation of 2,350 housing units and plots under the Family Homes Project resettlement scheme, further addressing housing needs within the state.

Building on these successes, Governor Buni's administration has commenced Phase II of the YOGIS Project, which aims to consolidate the gains already recorded and fully transform land administration in the state.

The second phase will focus on establishing a secure digital archive and electronic file management system, digital mapping of existing layouts to fast-track the issuance and processing of Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O), and a comprehensive upgrade of the GIS/LIS platform.

The project will also provide intensive training and capacity building for (YOGIS),personnel, upgrade customer service operations for a more seamless user experience, and deploy advanced technologies to ensure accurate, transparent, and stress-free customer billing processes.

The Director General (YOGIS), Dr. Abdullahi Hassan Gana Said  the ongoing reforms are expected to deliver a faster, more transparent, fully digital, and citizen-friendly land administration system while boosting internally generated revenue and supporting sustainable urban development across the State.

The achievements underscore Governor Mai Mala Buni's commitment to leveraging technology and innovation to improve governance, strengthen institutions, and provide efficient services to the good people of Yobe State.
