He inform the General public that the present administration, under the Good leadership of His Excellency Hon. (Dr),Mai Mala Buni CON, has Introduced far-reaching reforms to boost agricultural production in the State.
These reforms are aimed at revitalizing the sector to accelerate sustainable Development, make agriculture commercially attractive, and ensure self-reliance and food security for the people.
This reform programme began in the year 2000 through the organization of the first-ever Agricultural Summit and the formation of the Agricultural Revitalization Committee.
This effort led to the Development of a five-year Strategic Plan and the first-ever Agricultural Policy for Yobe State.
He assure the General public that the yobe State Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, is fully committed to the development of the agricultural sector.
This is demonstrated through the implementation of the Agricultural Empowerment Programme.
The programme entails the distribution of various agricultural inputs and equipment to support farmers and enhance productivity.
It is a continuous exercise carefully designed to address societal problems by providing food security, job opportunities, income Generation, and reducing rural-urban migration.
In 2024, the programme distributed inputs and equipment worth over 17 billion Naira to 5,340 beneficiaries, comprising 1,780 females and 3,560 males across the 178 wards in the State.
In 2025, over 16 billion Naira was also spent on the distribution of inputs and equipment to about 27,000 beneficiaries in the State, free of charge.
The commitment to enhance agricultural productivity, the Government procured 100 units of Zoomlion tractors in 2024 to provide mechanized services to farmers across the State.
Considering the desire of Government to ensure food security, create employment opportunities, and generate income for yobeans.
Government has provided a subsidy on tractor services to farmers.
